'Yoga' is a great way for health


Yoga has been in India since ancient times. It is India's gift to the world. In ancient times, it was a subject of spirituality. At that time, it was limited to ashrams and gurukuls. The credit for bringing it to the common people goes to Maharishi Patanjali. He defined yoga in simple language and brought it to the common people.


In ancient times, yoga was limited to India only. Many Indian saints have done the work of giving information about yoga to the world. Yoga has also been recognized by the UN.

What is Yoga according to Yogasutra?


Maharishi Patanjali has defined "Yoga" in Yogasutra. According to him, Yoga is a discipline. That is, disciplined life is Yoga. Maharishi Patanjali starts Yogasutra with "Atha Yoga Anushasanaam". This means that he considers Yoga as a discipline.


Definition of Yoga:- In the second 'Sutra' of "Samadhi Pada" of Yogasutra, the definition of Yoga is given:- "Yoga Chitavriti Nirodha:". In this sutra, Maharishi Patanjali defines Yoga that Yoga is to stop the mental tendencies. For 'Chitta Vriti Nirodha', Ashtang Yoga has been propounded. It has been described as complete Yoga.


Eight parts of Ashtang Yoga have been described. But in today's time, only three parts are in practice for health. These three parts are-- Asana, Pranayama and Dhyana.  These three affect our body, breath (prana) and mind.

Maharishi Patanjali describes Ashtangyoga in detail in "Yoga Sutra". Its eight parts are mentioned. It is necessary to follow them for complete yoga. These eight parts are as

What is Asana?  Benefits of Asanas (Health Benefits).

 Asana is an important action of yoga.  This is the third part of Ashtanga Yoga.  This is an easy action to perform.  Asanas affect the "sthula sharir" (outer body).


 Definition of 'Asana' in Patanjali Yoga :- Maharishi Patanjali defines Yoga in Yoga Sutra :-- Sthirasukham Asana.  That is, the position (pose) in which one can remain stable and comfortably is called asana.  This means that the asanas should be done with ease.  One should stay in the asana steadily for some time.


 Importance of posture.  Health benefits of Yoga.  This is an important action of yoga. 


Asanas keep our body parts active. This activity affects the internal organs as well as the external organs of the body.


 But there are some asanas which have complementary or opposite asanas.  For example, the complementary asana of Sarvanga Asana is Matsyasana.  The opposite of Ushtrasana is Shashankasana.  Similarly, if in any asana you have to bend only backwards then in the next asana opposite to it, bend forward.  By doing this the spine gets affected on both sides.
